Walter Ernest Bridge – Traveller & Entrepreneur

Well – what can I say about my amazing Father, Walter Ernest Bridge? Where do you start? He was quite a man I can tell you. Born in 1908 and brought up in Tottenham (yes he was a Spurs supporter!) he lived 92 years. What years they were too.

Very happy business days…

Dad at 85, not bad eh!

Very happy retirement in Lanzarote, especially during those long UK Winter months and much closer to the UK than Mexico or South Africa of course

Mum and Dad on their wedding day

Dad as a 5 year old with brother Bob and sister Muriel

Dad and his brother Bob (Italy between the wars)

Ponty’s sandwich bar.  Mum and Dad began this successful chain to help supplement their incomes in those early days… and yes Ponty was Dad’s nickname (Pont- Ponti -Bridge)

The young linguist.  Well he could speak fluent English, French, Spanish, German, Italian & Russian… pretty impressive eh?

After 5 years of courting, the happy couple on their wedding day … classic

Dad’s first sports car – London to Paris car race

Still partying at 80 – what a man, what a life!
